Build-A-Shed, a program aimed at supporting local school STEM programs, is hosting a sale where individuals can acquire custom-built storage while contributing to a worthy cause. The event, scheduled for Mar 12, 2024, brings together high school students, contractors, and subcontractors to compete in a one-day build of custom sheds.

Teams from various schools including Lucy Beckham High School, James Island Charter High School, Berkeley High School, Cross High School, and East Cooper Center for Advanced Studies will participate in this year's event. The student teams will plan and construct structures under the guidance of professional contractors, with sheds being judged based on criteria such as structural completeness, safety, and technical elements.

According to Build-A-Shed, "Here is your opportunity to support a great program and add custom built storage to your home or business at a great value." The sheds, estimated to be worth $5,000, will be available for a suggested donation of $3,250, which includes delivery. The specifications for the sheds, including dimensions and features, are provided for interested buyers.

"Proceeds from the sale of sheds will be put back into the Build-A-Shed program, which provides hands-on opportunities for students to gain real-life skills and experience, feeding our region’s talent pipeline," stated Build-A-Shed. Those interested in contributing to the program and receiving a shed are encouraged to contact Lucy Harding at lharding@charlestonchamber.org.
