Charleston Southern reported on Apr. 25 that Aden Price broke the school’s 400-meter record during the Charlotte Invite, ending an 18-year streak held by Levi Brooks. Price finished the race in a personal best of 45.67 seconds, which also secured him first place at the meet and marks the fourth-best time in conference history.
The event marked the conclusion of Charleston Southern’s outdoor track and field regular season. The achievement by Price is notable as it not only updates a longstanding school record but also highlights his progress over recent competitions.
Other performances included Hunter Adams recording a season best of 49.55 seconds in the same event, while Collin Kleinhen ran a personal best of 1:51.35 in the 800 meters, tying him for eighth all-time at Charleston Southern for that distance. Mason Raasch achieved second overall in the open section of the 1500 meters with a personal best time of 3:50.78.
In distance events, all Charleston Southern runners set new career bests in the men’s steeplechase, led by Caleb Kenyon with a time of 9:05.96, moving him to fifth place on Charleston Southern’s all-time list for that event.
Odin Ferency won shot put with a throw of 17.68 meters, narrowly missing his own personal record from last week. The men’s relay team comprising Luciano Custodio, Aden Price, Hunter Adams and Laden Beckwith took second place in their event with a time just two-tenths slower than their previous performance at Georgia Tech.
Charleston Southern will now have two weekends off before preparing for the Big South Championships scheduled to take place at High Point University from May 11 through May 13.
