Charleston County School District announced on Apr. 24 that Beth Jacobs will become principal of Jennie Moore Elementary School for the Creative Arts, effective July 1, 2026.
The appointment marks a leadership transition at the school as current Principal Karen Felder retires after 45 years with Charleston County School District, including more than two decades leading Jennie Moore Elementary.
Jacobs is currently assistant principal at Jennie Moore, where she supports academic and daily operations and works closely with teachers to improve instruction. She has led efforts in student support across academics, behavior, and social development. Superintendent Anita Huggins said, “Beth understands what makes Jennie Moore special because she has helped build it alongside this community. She is a thoughtful, student-centered leader who uses data to guide decisions, invests in her teachers, and keeps students at the heart of every decision. I am confident she will continue to move Jennie Moore forward.”
Previously serving as instructional coach at the school, Jacobs managed literacy and math interventions by analyzing student data and organizing additional instruction for those in need. She also mentored new teachers and facilitated collaborative planning among staff members.
Jacobs began her career at Jennie Moore as a kindergarten teacher and developed an early literacy intervention program called “Let’s READ at JME.” Her experience includes chairing a grade-level team of 18 teachers and obtaining Orton-Gillingham training for literacy instruction.
She holds a Master of Education in Elementary Administration and Supervision from The Citadel as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Clemson University.
The district highlights Jacobs’s commitment to building strong school culture through initiatives supporting staff morale, emergency preparedness coordination, and family engagement programs.
