Charleston-area warming centers open as temperatures fall near freezing

Several warming centers in the Charleston area will open as temperatures are expected to drop to between 34 and 32 degrees. The centers aim to provide temporary shelter for individuals seeking protection from cold weather.

Holy City Mission at Aldersgate Methodist in North Charleston will be available at 1444 Remount Road, with admission hours from 7 to 9 PM. Transportation is accessible via CARTA Route 13, with drop-off and pick-up at Remount Rd/Allison Ave. For more information, individuals can call 843-647-0320.

Seacoast Summerville Warming Center in Summerville is located at 301 E. 5th North St., open from 7 to 10 PM. Access is possible using CARTA Route 10 with a transfer to Tri-County Link at T-Mobile (Rivers Ave). The contact number is 843-486-0193.

Hibben UMC Warming Center in Mount Pleasant will operate at 690 Coleman Blvd., admitting guests from 7 to 9 PM. Evening pickup is available at 68 Columbus St. between 6:30 and 6:45 PM, and morning transportation will be provided by CARTA service. For details, call 843-884-9761.
