Charleston-area warming centers open December 19 due to cold weather

Warming centers in the Charleston area will open on Friday, December 19, 2025, in response to expected cold weather. The Holy City Mission at Aldersgate Methodist in North Charleston and the Seacoast Summerville Warming Center in Summerville will provide shelter for men, women, and children. Pets are not allowed.

The Holy City Mission at Aldersgate Methodist is located at 1444 Remount Road. Admission hours are from 7 to 9 PM. Public transportation is available via CARTA Route 13 with drop-off and pick-up at Remount Rd/Allison Ave. For site-specific questions, individuals can contact the office at Aldersgate by calling (843) 744-0283.

The Seacoast Summerville Warming Center is situated at 301 E. 5th North St., with admission also from 7 to 9 PM. On weekdays only, Tri County Link will offer free transportation to and from this center along its standard route. Site-specific inquiries can be directed to the office at Seacoast Summerville at (843) 486-0193.
