The College of Charleston baseball team will begin its Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) schedule against Hofstra from March 6 to 8 at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The series was originally set for Hempstead, New York, but was moved due to weather and field conditions. Despite the change in location, Hofstra will serve as the home team for all three games.
Game times are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Charleston enters conference play with a 5-7 record after defeating Presbyterian at home by a score of 6-3 earlier this week. Graduate Will Tippett hit his first home run as a Cougar, delivering a two-run shot in the eighth inning. Redshirt junior Carson Bryant and sophomore Parker Sweeney each pitched two scoreless innings to start the game, combining for six strikeouts.
Redshirt senior Alex Lyon earned his eighth career save by pitching the final three innings. “Lyon has recorded at least six outs in 41 of his 82 career outings,” according to the team’s statement.
Freshman Jake Amman contributed offensively by going 2-for-5 with a double and scoring a run. He has now started five consecutive games with a hit in his first at bat, including three games as leadoff hitter.
For this weekend’s series, freshmen Carter Harrington and Jace Stancil are slated to start on Friday and Saturday respectively. Charleston is currently the only CAA school that has had multiple true freshmen start on the mound during the 2026 season.
Historically, Charleston holds a strong record against Hofstra with 21 wins and 12 losses overall, including a dominant 16-3 mark at home. Last season, Charleston won two out of three games against Hofstra at Patriots Point during their final regular season series of 2025. The Cougars have scored double-digit runs eight times when facing Hofstra.
After this series concludes, Charleston will travel to face Wofford in Spartanburg on Wednesday, March 11 at 5:30 p.m., with live coverage available on ESPN+.
