College of Charleston’s baseball team will play its first midweek game of the 2026 season by hosting Presbyterian at Patriots Point on Tuesday, with the game scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Last weekend, Charleston played two games in Greenville, South Carolina. The team secured a win against James Madison with an 8-7 score in 10 innings but lost to Illinois, who shut them out 5-0 on Saturday morning.
Freshman Jake Amman was recognized for his performance last week and named Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Week. “Amman went 8-for-12 (.667 average) with a double, homer, 4 runs scored and 6 RBI in Charleston’s three games last week to go along with a 1.714 OPS,” according to the team. In one highlight, Amman hit a grand slam that tied the game against East Carolina and had four hits in five at-bats during the win over James Madison, scoring the tying run before delivering a walk-off single. He became only the 50th player in program history to hit a grand slam and is the first since Tyler Sorrentino achieved this feat in 2022. It was also just the second neutral site grand slam for Charleston.
Other freshmen contributed as well: Carter Harrington made his first career weekend start against James Madison, pitching five innings without earning a decision. Jace Stancil pitched six innings and allowed two runs during Saturday’s matchup with Illinois.
Charleston holds a 2-0 record all-time against Presbyterian. Previous meetings include a home victory (9-5) on May 17, 2011, and another win (7-3) on March 1, 2022.
Looking ahead, Charleston will open Coastal Athletic Association play against Hofstra from March 6-8. Due to weather and field conditions, this series will be moved from its original location and played at Patriots Point instead; however, Charleston will be designated as the away team for these contests. The opening game is set for Friday at 4 p.m.
Single-game tickets can be purchased online or by calling the Ticket Office at (843) 953-2632.
