The College of Charleston men’s basketball team is set to play its final home game of the regular season against Monmouth on Saturday, February 21. The matchup will begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
This game marks Senior Day for the Cougars, who will recognize graduate students Connor Hickman, Kendall Taylor, and Jlynn Counter; senior Bryce Baker; and student managers Avery Vanderweele and Wallace Johnson.
Charleston and Monmouth have not faced each other this season. Currently, the two teams are separated by 3.5 games in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) standings. A victory would guarantee Charleston a top four seed and a double-bye in the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Their last meeting was in the 2025 CAA Quarterfinals, where Charleston won 79-78 in overtime. Overall, Charleston leads the series with Monmouth 4-1.
In their previous game, Charleston defeated North Carolina A&T with a score of 74-61. The Cougars led by as much as 23 points and shot 53% from three-point range in the first half. Jlynn Counter led with 16 points, seven assists, and four rebounds, while freshman Chris Davis Jr. recorded his first career double-double.
Jlynn Counter currently leads the CAA in total assists (151) and assists per game (5.6). His season total ties him for twelfth most assists in a single season at Charleston.
Redshirt sophomore Chol Machot ranks third nationally in total blocks (74) and seventh in blocks per game (2.64). Two more blocks would move him to fourth all-time for single-season blocks at Charleston.
The Cougars rank among the top defensive rebounding teams nationally, standing at thirty-fourth with an average of 27.25 defensive rebounds per game.
Fans attending Saturday’s game are encouraged to participate in a “Stripe Out” by wearing assigned maroon or white colors based on their seating section. Colored pom-poms will be provided at each seat.
Doors to TD Arena will open one and a half hours before tip-off. Concession stands open when doors open; the Cougar Spirit Shop opens one hour before tip-off. Attendees are advised to add tickets to their Apple Wallet or Google Pay App ahead of time for easier entry.
A clear bag policy remains in effect for all athletic events at TD Arena; details can be found through the College of Charleston’s official channels. An ADA drop-off lane is available along Meeting Street next to TD Arena.
Alcohol sales regulations require valid IDs for each transaction, with vertical IDs not accepted regardless of age. Each customer may purchase up to two alcoholic beverages per transaction, with Aramark handling ID checks at concession stands.
New walk-through magnetometers have been installed at TD Arena entrances as part of enhanced security measures alongside existing clear bag policies. Fans must remove items from their pockets when passing through metal detectors; compliant bags may be used for belongings.
