Charleston Cougars sailing team prepares for three spring regattas

The College of Charleston sailing team is set to compete in three regattas during its second weekend of the spring season. The dinghy team will participate in the Mendelblatt Open Team Race at home, as well as the Nelson Roltsch Open Team Race and the Green Wave Women’s Team Race, both taking place in New Orleans.

The lineup for the Mendelblatt Open Team Race includes Pierce Olsen and Ava Cohen, Flynn Olsen and Caroline Uram, Maison Koepke and Emma Horton, with Theo Westerlind, Ty Ryan, John Szynal, and Dillon Garcia also on the roster. Competing in the Nelson Roltsch Open Team Race are Benjamin Dufour, Clara Murphy, Jonnie Cifolillo, Bella Placa, Charlie Allen, Maila Deane, and Aidan Millar. For the Green Wave Women’s Team Race, Isabella Shakespeare, Lucy Elvart, Ashley Alfortish, Lucy Zinn, Georgia Shuster, Brooke Adam, and Madilyn Anderson are scheduled to race.

Looking ahead to March 7-8, Charleston will host two events: the Bob Bavier Open Team Race and the Phebe Corckran King Women’s Team Race. During that same weekend, they will also travel to compete in the St. Mary’s Open Team Race. Additionally, from March 5-8 in Vallejo, California, Charleston’s offshore squad will participate in the LA Harbor Cup.
