The College of Charleston men’s basketball team secured a 74-63 win over Monmouth on Senior Day at TD Arena, earning at least a top four seed and a double-bye in the upcoming 2026 CAA Men’s Basketball Championship.

Both teams were tied early in the game before Charleston took control late in the first half. A three-pointer from Connor Hickman gave the Cougars their largest lead up to that point, and they went into halftime with a 39-25 advantage. Christian Reeves led Charleston in the first half with 11 points as the team scored 24 points in the paint.

At the start of the second half, Martin Kalu hit a three-pointer and Charleston forced three turnovers to begin a 7-0 run. Monmouth answered with its own 7-0 run to narrow the gap, but Chol Machot’s three-point play helped Charleston regain momentum. Chris Davis Jr. then scored back-to-back three-pointers during a decisive 13-2 run for Charleston.

Reeves finished with a game-high 19 points and ten rebounds, marking his seventh double-double of the season. Davis Jr. posted a career-best 16 points along with four rebounds. Jlynn Counter contributed 14 points, six assists, and four rebounds, while Machot also had 14 points on efficient shooting. Kalu added five rebounds and three steals.

Charleston shot 46% from the field compared to Monmouth’s 43%, and both teams collected 45 rebounds each. The Cougars committed eight turnovers—marking their eleventh game this season with ten or fewer turnovers under head coach Chris Mack—and recorded 21 assists on their 27 made field goals. The team remains unbeaten this year when leading at halftime.

Charleston now holds an overall record of 19-10 and is 12-4 in conference play. The Cougars will next face Hampton on Thursday, February 26, in Virginia.
