The College of Charleston women’s basketball team is set to host Campbell University for a Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) matchup on Sunday, March 1 at TD Arena. The game will begin at 1 p.m. and marks the Cougars’ Fan Appreciation Game, with free entry for all attendees and Charleston Foam Basketballs given away after the game while supplies last.
Charleston enters the contest with a 22-4 overall record and a 14-1 mark in CAA play. The team recently clinched at least a share of its first-ever Division I regular season championship following a win over William & Mary. One more victory in their final three games or a loss by Stony Brook would secure the outright title and top seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament.
Head coach Robin Harmony, now in her seventh season with Charleston, has led the program to three consecutive 20-win seasons—a first in its Division I history—and recently achieved her 117th win at CofC. Under Harmony’s leadership, the Cougars set a new program record for wins in a season with 25 during the current campaign.
Two key returning starters from last year’s WNIT Super 16 squad include Taryn Barbot, who was named CAA Player of the Year last season. Barbot has continued her strong performance this year, averaging 19.4 points per game and earning five CAA Player of the Week honors so far. She reached significant milestones including surpassing both 1,000 career points and ranking eighth on Charleston’s all-time scoring list.
Grace Ezebilo has also made national impact this season, ranking fourth in offensive rebounds per game (4.8), sixth in total rebounds per game (12.4), and ninth overall for total rebounds (310). Taylor Barbot stands out as one of only 22 players nationally to record a triple-double this year.
As a team, Charleston ranks among the nation’s top programs in offensive rebounding, turnover margin, scoring margin, and winning percentage according to recent NCAA statistics.
Campbell comes into Sunday’s matchup with an overall record of 17-11 and is fifth in conference standings at 10-5. Freshman guard Jasmine Nivar leads Campbell offensively with an average of 11.6 points per game and has been recognized as CAA Rookie of the Week five times this season.
Historically, Charleston trails Campbell narrowly with an all-time series record of 12-13 but has won five out of their last six meetings against the Camels—including their most recent encounter earlier this month.
Fans attending Sunday’s event are reminded that doors open one hour before tip-off and that TD Arena enforces both clear bag policies and enhanced security measures including walk-through metal detectors at entrances.
