The Charleston County School District is working to expand a centralized scholarship database and clearinghouse, aiming to better connect students with local funding opportunities for postsecondary education and training. This initiative aligns with efforts to strengthen the region’s future workforce.

Local businesses and organizations are being asked to share information about scholarships they offer so these can be included in the resource available to students and families across Charleston County and the broader tri-county area. “As valued members of the business community, you play an important role in opening doors for students across Charleston County and the tri-county region. We invite you to share information about any scholarships your business or organization offers so they can be included in this resource for students and families,” wrote Heather Anderson, Director of School Counseling Services, and Fran Ridgell from School Counseling Services.

A Google Form has been set up by the district to make it easier for organizations to submit scholarship details. The district also expressed appreciation for ongoing support from community partners. “Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to supporting the next generation of our community,” stated Anderson and Ridgell.

Questions regarding the initiative can be directed to Heather Anderson or Fran Ridgell via their provided email addresses.

Efforts such as these align with regional priorities promoted by groups like the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, which supports talent development initiatives designed to bolster the local economy. The Chamber serves businesses throughout Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties, offering networking events, educational programs, and policy advocacy services. Bryan Derreberry is president and CEO of the Chamber, which also highlights its status as the nation’s oldest city chamber. Through its leadership, advocacy, and member services, the Chamber aims to drive economic prosperity in the area.
