Charleston Half Marathon prompts temporary road closures on January 31

Road closures are set for January 31, 2026, in downtown Charleston due to the Charleston Half Marathon. The race will start near Burke High School and finish close to the RiverDogs Stadium. The 13-mile course will pass through several areas, including Hampton Park, Lockwood Blvd, Sumter St, Fishburne St, Piedmont Ave, Hester St, Dunneman Ave, Grove St, and the Battery.

The schedule for road closures begins at 6:30 a.m., with the race starting at 7:00 a.m. All roadways are expected to reopen by 11:00 a.m., when the event concludes.

Vehicle access will be restricted for some businesses and residences during the event. Police officers will be present along the route to help manage traffic and assist residents with neighborhood access.
