The College of Charleston men’s golf team finished in third place at the 2026 Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Golf Championship on Apr. 28 at Dataw Island Club.

The result puts Charleston four strokes behind second-place Elon, with UNCW taking the championship title. The Cougars ended the tournament at 17 under par after moving up from fifth place following the opening round.

Loran Appel led Charleston with a tie for fourth place at six under par, playing all three rounds at or below par and earning All-Tournament honors. The junior recorded six birdies during Tuesday’s final round. Nevill Ruiter also placed in the top ten, finishing ninth after a bogey-free, four-under final round—the best single-round score for Charleston in the tournament.

Charleston led all teams in total eagles with four across three rounds. Appel had the second most birdies among all players with 15, while teammate Johan Bredenkamp made 14 birdies over the event.

The Cougars now await their postseason fate and will watch for announcements from the NCAA Men’s Golf Selection show scheduled for Wednesday, May 6.
