The College of Charleston men’s basketball team secured a 62-57 victory over Campbell in Buies Creek, North Carolina. The win improves Charleston’s record to 17-10 overall and 10-4 in conference play.

Charleston relied on strong performances from their big men, Christian Reeves and Chol Machot, who together made 16 of their 20 field goal attempts. Reeves led all scorers with 18 points and collected 15 rebounds, finishing the game without missing a shot from the field. Machot contributed 17 points, six rebounds, and six blocks. With his performance, Machot now ranks fifth all-time for blocks in a single season at Charleston.

The first half saw both teams trading baskets until Charleston went on a run to take a ten-point lead. Reeves scored three consecutive putbacks to help give the Cougars a halftime advantage of 36-28.

Campbell responded in the second half with a 10-0 run to tie the game at 40 before taking their first lead since early in the contest. The Camels built up a six-point margin before Charleston answered with a run of their own, tying it at 48 after Machot scored inside. Machot then took control by scoring twelve straight points for Charleston.

In the closing minutes, both teams struggled offensively, combining for just two made shots out of eighteen attempts. Key free throws by Colby Duggan and Jlynn Counter helped secure the win for Charleston.

Other notable contributions came from Duggan and Chris Davis Jr., each scoring eight points off the bench. Counter recorded his 500th career rebound during the first half and finished with eight assists to maintain his league-leading total.

Charleston shot 46 percent from the field compared to Campbell’s 35 percent but was outrebounded by Campbell, who held a slight edge at 39-34. The Cougar bench provided significant support by outscoring Campbell’s reserves by nineteen points.

Charleston has maintained an undefeated record this season when leading at halftime. Their next game is scheduled against North Carolina A&T on Thursday, February 19 in Greensboro.
