The College of Charleston men’s tennis team secured its fourth consecutive win with a 5-2 victory over Nicholls State on Monday in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Both teams entered the match with identical records of 4-3.
Nicholls State began strongly by winning all three doubles matches, taking an early 1-0 lead. However, Charleston responded in singles play. Eddie Vo tied the score after a straight-set win on court five. Juan Diego Rojas Mora followed with another two-set victory at the No. 6 position, putting Charleston ahead 2-1.
Dani Farran extended the Cougars’ advantage with a win on court four. Jakub Solarski clinched the overall match for Charleston by defeating Marcell Marki in straight sets at the top singles spot. Jake Smith added another point for Charleston shortly after, securing his match on court three.
Nicholls State managed to claim one more point by winning court two in three sets, but it was not enough to overcome Charleston’s lead.
The Cougars will continue their road trip with a match against New Orleans scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. EST.
