Charleston men’s tennis defeats Wofford with strong singles performances

The College of Charleston men’s tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over Wofford at the Turner Tennis Center on Saturday. This result brings Charleston’s record to 1-3 for the season, while Wofford falls to 5-3.

Charleston started strong by winning the doubles point. Ram Mude and Jake Smith defeated their opponents 6-1 on court two, and Leon Harder paired with Juan Diego Rojas Mora to win 6-2 on court three. On court one, Jakub Solarski and Eddie Vo were leading 5-4 when Charleston clinched the doubles point.

In singles play, Dani Farran posted a straight-set win in position No. 1 with scores of 6-4, 6-0. Jake Smith earned another point for Charleston in a three-set match on court four (6-2, 3-6, 6-1). Ram Mude clinched the overall match for the Cougars by winning his contest on court three (7-5, 6-4). Jakub Solarski added a fifth point for Charleston after defeating his opponent in slot No. 2 (4-6, 6-4, 7-5).

Wofford collected points with wins on courts six and one.

The Cougars are scheduled to return to competition against Coppin State in Baltimore on Friday, February 20. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
