The College of Charleston men’s tennis team secured a 4-3 win against New Orleans on Tuesday, marking their fifth consecutive victory and improving their season record to 5-3. The match took place in New Orleans, where the Privateers now hold a 7-3 record.

Charleston started strong in doubles as Jake Smith and Ram Mude won 6-2 on court two. However, New Orleans claimed victories on the other two courts, giving them an early 1-0 lead going into singles play.

In singles matches, Dani Farran tied the score for Charleston with a straight-set win (6-3, 6-2) on court four. New Orleans quickly responded by winning in slot No. 3 to retake the lead at 2-1.

Juan Diego Rojas Mora evened things up again for Charleston with a straight-set victory (6-4, 6-3) on court six. Jakub Solarski then delivered another point for the Cougars by defeating Jacob Rouleau-Mailly in two sets (7-6(4), 6-3) at the top singles position, putting Charleston ahead for the first time at 3-2.

Eddie Vo clinched the overall match for Charleston after coming back from losing his first set to win his next two sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) on court five. This gave Charleston its decisive fourth point of the day.

New Orleans added one more point by winning a third set tiebreaker on court two. Despite this effort from the Privateers, it was not enough to prevent Charleston from taking home its fifth straight win.

The Cougars will return home to face Youngstown State in their next match scheduled for Friday, March 7 at 2 p.m.
