The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee (PAC) has endorsed Frankie Staropoli for the Dorchester County Council District 6 special election. The endorsement follows the vacancy left by Bill Hearn, who moved from council member to County Attorney.
According to the PAC, all candidates were invited to participate in a review process that included a written questionnaire and an interview with members of the PAC Board. Endorsed candidates are expected to show strong alignment with the Chamber’s policy priorities and demonstrate an effective vision for the region’s future.
“The Chamber PAC endorses candidates who demonstrate a clear understanding of what it takes to build and sustain a thriving regional economy. Frankie meets that standard. As a longtime Dorchester County resident and businessman, he brings a results-oriented perspective to the issues that matter most to our business community. His platform reflects a candidate who has thought seriously about the county’s long-term trajectory,” said the Chamber PAC in its statement.
The committee highlighted Staropoli’s approach to economic development, noting his focus on strategic growth and recruiting employers that strengthen the tax base while adding long-term value. The PAC also pointed out his commitment to expanding infrastructure alongside population growth.
In addition, Staropoli was recognized for his attention to workforce development through deeper engagement with local school districts—a priority shared by the Chamber. “A county council member who treats education as an economic issue is a genuine partner for the business community, and that is exactly what we see in him,” according to the PAC.
