Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on December 15, 2025, in downtown Charleston. The incident took place around 8:30 a.m. on King Street near Mt. Pleasant Street.

According to the Charleston Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), Trevis Dwayne Deas, age 49 and a resident of Charleston, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

Investigators reported that a vehicle exiting the parking lot at 1227 King Street struck Christine Harris, an adult pedestrian who was crossing the business driveway from the sidewalk. Harris died at the scene.
