Charleston police arrest suspect in Huntington Bank robbery on King Street

The Charleston Police Department announced on April 30 the arrest of a suspect in connection with the robbery at Huntington Bank, located at 677 King Street, which took place on April 21.

Police said officers responded to the bank shortly before 4 p.m. after employees reported that a man entered and handed a note to a teller demanding money. The suspect was described as wearing a medical mask and gauze over one eye before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

Following an investigation, detectives charged Jonathan Clayton, age 46 and from Charleston, with entering a bank with intent to steal. Clayton was arrested on April 29 in North Charleston with help from the U.S. Marshals Task Force and North Charleston Police Department.
