Two suspects have been arrested following a robbery that took place inside a residence on Westway Drive in James Island on November 20, 2025. The Charleston Police Department responded to the incident after receiving a report at around 11 a.m. from a man who said he was injured during the robbery.

According to the victim, he was invited to the home by an acquaintance. After his arrival, another man entered the room wearing a ski mask and pointed a shotgun at him. Both suspects then demanded his belongings. When the victim resisted, one of the suspects struck him with a handgun.

Officers found both suspects inside the residence and arrested them with help from the Special Operations Division. They were taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center and are awaiting bond hearings.

As part of their investigation, police charged Justin Roland Jenkins, 27, of Charleston, with armed robbery, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Malachi Jabez Lanham, 22, also of Charleston, faces charges including armed robbery, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

“This remains an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Charleston Police Department at 843-720-2422 and request the on-duty Central Detective. Tips can also be submitted anonymously at www.charleston-sc.gov/tips,” according to Sgt. C. Stinson.
