Charleston police have charged a suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred at the 930 NoMo apartment complex on Morrison Drive during the early hours of November 1, 2025. The incident resulted in one fatality and left another person injured.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 12:45 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Aden Gore deceased in a hallway. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office identified him as the victim. Another adult male was discovered with a gunshot wound to the leg; he was transported to a local hospital and has since been released.

Detectives determined that Gore and the second victim were involved in an altercation in a second-floor hallway during a party. According to police, Zaire Christopher Nelson, age 20 and from Charleston, fired multiple shots during the fight, striking both men. Gore died at the scene while the other victim—who is acquainted with Nelson—was hit once in the leg.

Witnesses told detectives that Nelson had been handling a handgun recklessly before the confrontation began. After Nelson fired, another individual at the party discharged several rounds attempting to defend Gore. Police report that no one was struck by these additional shots, and this individual has not been charged.

Nelson faces charges of murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and pointing and presenting a firearm.

Police noted that many residents at 930 NoMo are College of Charleston students but confirmed after contacting campus public safety officials that none of those primarily involved are enrolled at the college.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities ask anyone with information or video footage related to this case to contact Charleston Police Department’s on-duty Central Detective at 843-720-2422 or submit an anonymous tip through www.charleston-sc.gov/tips.

Sgt. Chris Stinson is listed as media contact for further inquiries.
