Charleston Police are investigating a homicide that took place Tuesday evening on Ashley Avenue near Race Street. Officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 6:45 p.m., where they found a 17-year-old victim deceased at the scene. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim when appropriate.
According to early information, those involved in the incident were known to each other, and police have stated there is no indication that this was a random act. As part of their investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on Race Street to gather evidence.
