Charleston Police seek public help in unsolved 2020 Gadsden Green homicide

Detectives from the Charleston Police Department are seeking assistance from the public in solving a homicide that occurred in 2020 in the Gadsden Green neighborhood of downtown Charleston.

On December 22, 2020, at around 4:00 p.m., officers responded to Flood Street where they found Malik Nelson, age 24, with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but Nelson died at the scene. The case remains an active homicide investigation.

According to police, detectives believe that the suspect or suspects may have been known to Nelson.

The Charleston Police Department is urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about it to come forward. “Charleston Police Department detectives continue to actively work this case and urge anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information to come forward.”
