Charleston sets school records at Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational

Charleston’s track and field team participated in the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational on February 13 and 14 in Mill Spring, North Carolina. The event featured several notable performances from the team.

On Friday, Charleston entered two teams in the distance medley relay. The A team included Abby Mogg, Caroline Cassidy, Andie Harding, and Savannah Stoutt, while the B team was made up of Kiley DeFusco, Mia Romer, Lucy Alexander, and Katie O’Toole. Both teams recorded times that placed them among the top three and top five in school history.

In the high jump competition, Tori-Ann Anderson finished first with a jump of 1.70 meters. Kinsley Allen followed in second place with a mark of 1.65 meters.

Saturday’s events saw Emma Townsend and Trinity Jones both complete the 60-meter dash in 7.92 seconds, earning ninth and tenth places respectively.

Abby Mogg won the mile race with a time of 4:57.47. Kiley DeFusco finished fourth at 5:04.13. In the 800 meters, Lucy Alexander took third place with a time of 2:16.17.

The Cougars also excelled in pole vaulting by securing the top three spots; Elaine Zhai led with a winning height of 3.80 meters.

Charleston will next compete at the Coastal Athletic Association Indoor Championship meet in Boston on February 22 and 23.
