The College of Charleston softball team is set to participate in the I-75 Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia, from February 19 to 21. The event is hosted by Georgia Tech and will feature games against Purdue, Yale, and Georgia Tech.

Charleston enters the tournament with a 7-4 record after two weekends of play. This weekend’s schedule includes four contests: an opening game against Georgia Tech on Thursday at 1 p.m., followed by matchups against Purdue at 11 a.m. and a second game versus Georgia Tech at 4 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will conclude their tournament play with games against Yale at 11 a.m. and Purdue at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Two players received recent recognition for their performances. Mackenzie Mathis was named Pitcher of the Week after achieving a 2-0 record at the Lowcountry Classic, posting a 1.31 ERA and recording 14 strikeouts over 16 innings pitched. Bronwyn Conroy earned Rookie of the Week honors, having scored eight runs and stolen seven bases during the same event. Conroy currently leads NCAA Division I in both stolen bases (14) and hits (20).

Thursday’s matchup marks the first meeting between Charleston and Georgia Tech since 2000, when Charleston secured a narrow victory. The Cougars last played Purdue in 2019, winning that contest as well. Saturday’s game against Yale will be the first encounter between these programs.
