Charleston softball will begin its Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) schedule by hosting Monmouth for a three-game series at Patriots Point from March 6 to March 8. The games are scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at noon.

The Cougars enter the series with an 8-13 record after recent road losses to Wofford and Clemson. In the game against Wofford, sophomore Sally Trent hit her second career home run, while pitcher Campbell Schaen recorded two strikeouts in two innings. During the matchup with Clemson, junior pitcher Ryley Kutter struck out three batters over three innings, and Jules Raymond limited Clemson to just two hits during her time pitching. Four Charleston players had hits in that game, including Leela Langston, who has now reached 26 hits this season.

Charleston currently ranks seventh nationally among Division I teams and leads the CAA in total stolen bases with 49. Freshman Bronwyn Conroy is responsible for 18 of those steals, leading the conference and ranking second in the nation.

Pitcher Mackenzie Mathis holds second place in the CAA for strikeouts with 43 this season, achieving a season-high seven strikeouts against Marist during Charleston’s opening game.

Monmouth comes into the series with a 6-8 record, having most recently defeated Colgate by a score of 4-3 on March 1. The two teams have met six times previously, with Charleston holding a 3-4 overall record against Monmouth but a stronger showing at home with a 3-1 record at Patriots Point. Their last meeting was in 2024 when Charleston lost to Monmouth by one run.

Tickets are required for Friday and Sunday’s games; purchase information is available online.

Saturday’s game will include a First Responders Appreciation event featuring local first responders participating in ceremonial activities such as throwing out the first pitch and allowing fans to interact with law enforcement vehicles on site.
