Charleston Southern won against USC Upstate by a score of 11-3 on Apr. 12, closing out the weekend baseball series in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Buccaneers scored nine runs over the final three innings to secure the victory.

Charleston Southern responded in the fourth inning when Gavin Speirs hit a double that drove in Garrison Barile, tying the game at one run each. Blake Edgmon then hit a sacrifice flyout to bring Speirs home and put Charleston Southern ahead.
In the seventh inning, Charleston Southern’s offense produced five runs after two quick outs. Lucas Pringle was hit by a pitch with bases loaded, followed by Barile’s single that cleared the bases due to another fielding error. Speirs added his second RBI double of the day during this rally.
The Buccaneers continued their scoring in the eighth inning as Tyler Wright delivered a two-RBI single with two outs and bases loaded. Although Waters hit a home run for USC Upstate in their half of the eighth, Charleston Southern answered back in the ninth when Spiers homered after Barile reached base on a hit by pitch.
