Charleston Southern University’s women’s tennis team began their 2026 spring season by hosting the No. 23 ranked Florida Gators in Charleston. The match ended with Florida defeating Charleston Southern, 6–1.

The Buccaneers’ only victory came from redshirt-junior Carlota Farrés Carreter, who won her singles match against Florida’s Brooke Black in a tie-breaking third set, 10–5. This marks Farrés’ first collegiate singles win; she previously played for Memphis but had her freshman year cut short due to injury and held a 0–1 singles record before Saturday’s match.

In other singles matches, Florida players Valery Gynina, Gabia Paskauskas, Lucie Pawlak, Xinyi Nong, and Nikola Daubnerova each secured wins over their Charleston Southern opponents. In doubles play, all three matches were won by Florida pairs.

Charleston Southern is scheduled to travel to Columbia for a match against the South Carolina Gamecocks at 10:00 AM the following morning.

“Tomorrow morning, CSU will travel to Columbia for a 10:00 AM meeting with another SEC-opponent, the South Carolina Gamecocks.”
