Charleston Southern University’s men’s track and field team competed at the Duke Invitational on April 11, achieving four new all-time top ten school records in distance events.
The meet saw several athletes from Charleston Southern post personal bests and notable performances. These results highlight ongoing improvements within the team as they approach the end of their regular season.
In the men’s 1500-meter race, Collin Kleinhen recorded a personal best of 3:48.47, making him the fastest among his teammates in that event. Micah Gilpatric finished with a time of 3:48.49, while Martin Iriondo also set a career best at 3:48.55; Kleinhen’s and Iriondo’s times now rank eighth and ninth fastest in school history. Other participants included Mason Raasch (3:54.70), Kaden Kleinhen (3:55.94), and Jackson Lovvorn (3:56.89).
Caleb Kenyon made his debut in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:06.64, which is now sixth-fastest all-time for Charleston Southern, finishing ninth overall in the field. Jones Barber also competed in this event with a time of 9:32.75.
Rogan Arriaga closed out day one for Charleston Southern by running the men’s 5000 meters in 14:27.32—the tenth-fastest mark ever for the school—while Hayden Goode posted a time of 14:37.09 and Lin Scott (14:40.18) along with Jeff Wedding (15:11.54) both achieved career bests.
On Saturday, Luciano Custodio ran his season-best time of 53.26 seconds in the men’s 400-meter hurdles.
Other results included Collin Kleinhen posting a team-leading time of 1:53 flat in the men’s 800 meters; Kaden Kleinhen and Lovvorn each finished at exactly 1:54.77 while Hunter Adams clocked in at 1:58.80 for that event as well as Brennan Johnson running a time of 51.03 seconds for the men’s open quarter mile.
The Buccaneers will next compete at Georgia Tech Invite on April 17–18, marking their penultimate regular season meet.
