Charleston Southern men’s track achieves multiple records at Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational

Charleston Southern University’s men’s track and field team completed their indoor regular season at the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational in Tyron, North Carolina. The team recorded several personal bests and achieved new rankings in the school’s all-time records during the event.

Caleb Kenyon won the 5,000-meter race with a personal best of 14:39.46, which places him seventh in program history for that event. Lin Scott finished third with a time of 14:53.85, while Andrew Cleland was fourth at 15:01.96.

In the one-mile run, Martin Iriondo secured first place with a personal best of 4:08.33 but remains seventh on the school’s all-time list. Mason Raasch took second with a time of 4:11.51. The Bucs also claimed fourth through sixth places in this event with performances by Kenyon (4:13.38), Rogan Arriaga (4:13.44), and Micah Gilpatric (4:13.56).

For the 800 meters, Collin and Kaden Kleinhen both set personal records and finished second and third overall, running times of 1:52.78 and 1:53.04 respectively; these results keep them fifth and sixth in school history for this distance.

Aden Price won the 200-meter dash with a personal best of 21.30 seconds, moving up to fourth in school history for that event, while Laden Beckwith finished second at 21.65 seconds—eighth-best in program history.

In sprint events, Beckwith had the fastest preliminary time in the 60-meter dash at 6.81 seconds before finishing second in the finals with a time of 6.77 seconds.

Price also won the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.97 seconds; Anderson placed sixth at 49.82 seconds.

Jayden Anderson ran an 8.55-second preliminary round in the 60-meter hurdles to claim third before achieving a significant personal best of 8.32 seconds in the finals to finish second overall and move into fifth place on Charleston Southern’s all-time list for this event.

Odin Ferency placed fourth in shot put with his top throw reaching 15.55 meters, while Tarrell Miles was among the top ten competitors after throwing for a distance of 13.86 meters.

On day one of competition, Miles achieved a career-best weight throw at 17.71 meters, tying him for seventh place on Charleston Southern’s historical list for that discipline.

The Buccaneers will now prepare for the Big South Indoor Championships scheduled to take place at the same facility from Friday, February 27 through Saturday, February 28.
