The Charleston Southern Buccaneers men’s track and field team competed at the Orange & Purple Invite in Clemson, which was rescheduled to take place mostly on Friday due to expected winter weather. The event marked the team’s second visit to Clemson this season.

In the sprints, Laden Beckwith made his collegiate track debut after playing as a wide receiver for the football team in the fall. Beckwith ran 6.81 seconds in the 60m preliminaries, placing him among the school’s all-time top ten for that event. He improved his time to 6.74 seconds in the semifinals, moving up to fourth in school history, and finished with another 6.81-second run in the finals to claim second place in his heat.

Aden Price also delivered strong performances, recording a time of 21.33 seconds in the 200m and 47.96 seconds in the 400m, which rank fifth and seventh respectively in school records for those distances. Jayden Anderson achieved a personal best of 8.45 seconds in the 60m hurdles prelims, earning sixth place on Charleston Southern’s all-time list.

In distance events, Martin Iriondo set a personal best of 8:11.42 in the men’s 3K race, securing fourth place in school history and finishing as runner-up at the meet. Griffin Gillespie finished third overall with a time of 8:18.42.

Field events saw Odin Ferency achieve a season-best shot put throw of 15.66 meters for eighth place overall, while Tarrell Miles recorded a career-best weight throw of 17.58 meters on Thursday—placing ninth all-time at Charleston Southern.

Collin and Kaden Kleinhen both posted season-best times in the 800m with finishes of 1:53.96 and 1:55.04 respectively. In the mile event, Rogan Arriaga ran a time of 4:17.90 and George Rowland finished at 4:21.04.

The relay teams also contributed notable results; the men’s 4x400m squad clocked a time of 3:21.51, while Gillespie, Beckwith, Liam O’Donnell, and Caleb Kenyon completed the distance medley relay with a time of 10:07.28—the seventh-fastest mark in program history.

Charleston Southern will have another weekend off before traveling to Blacksburg, Virginia for their next competition at Virginia Tech’s Doc Hale Invite scheduled from February 6-7.
