Charleston Southern University (CSU) men’s basketball team is preparing for two upcoming Big South Conference games as the regular season nears its end. The Buccaneers will host Presbyterian College on February 12, followed by a road game against Radford University on February 14.
In their previous matchup with Presbyterian on January 21 in Clinton, South Carolina, CSU lost 87-83. Graduate student Trent Coleman returned to action after an absence since December 21, contributing seven points and six rebounds in just twelve minutes. Guards A’lahn Sumler and Brycen Blaine combined for 42 of the team’s total points during that contest.
Presbyterian’s leading player this season is Jonah Pierce, who is averaging 16.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Pierce ranks fifth in scoring and first in rebounding among Big South players ahead of Thursday’s game. Other key contributors for the Blue Hose include Carl Parrish (14.0 points), Triston Wilson (10.4), and Jaylen Peterson (10.2).
The Blue Hose are coached by Quinton Ferrell, now in his seventh season at the helm after twelve years with the program overall. “With 12 wins already this season, 2025–26 is on track to be Ferrell’s best year to date,” according to the release. Both Ferrell and CSU head coach Saah Nimley began their college careers as point guards at their respective institutions.
Charleston Southern currently leads the all-time series against Presbyterian, holding a record of 23-16.
Following that matchup, CSU will face Radford on February 14 at Radford’s home court. In their most recent meeting on January 29 in Charleston, Radford won with a score of 84-75 despite A’lahn Sumler scoring 28 points for CSU.
Radford guard Del Jones scored 27 points in that game and holds an average of 20.7 points per conference outing—ranking fourth among league scorers this season. Forward Dennis Parker Jr., recognized early as a contender for Newcomer of the Year after a notable performance against Coppin State last December where he scored 53 points, averages 18.8 points per conference game—seventh-best in the league—and has surpassed twenty points five times during conference play.
Senior guard Jaylon Johnson represented Radford at Big South Media Day; he averages thirteen point three points per league game while leading his team with averages of three point three assists and one point seven steals per contest.
Radford holds a historical advantage over Charleston Southern with a record of fifty-seven wins to thirty losses across all meetings between the programs.
