Charleston Southern University had a record number of players named to the Big South Conference baseball All-Conference teams, according to a May 19 announcement by the conference. Seven Buccaneers received recognition, with four earning First-Team All-Conference honors, both marking new school records. The announcement came ahead of the Big South Championships, where #4 Charleston Southern is set to play #5 Radford in Asheville.

This achievement highlights a significant milestone for Charleston Southern’s baseball program as it prepares for postseason competition. The recognition reflects strong individual performances throughout the season and signals growing competitiveness within the team.

The First-Team honorees from Charleston Southern are Alex Marot (utility), Nathan Martinez (infielder), Blake Edgmon (infielder), and Kain Collins (outfielder). Matt Gallant was named to the Second-Team as a starting pitcher. Lucas Pringle earned Honorable Mention and was also selected for the All-Academic Team, while Caden Wolfley made the All-Freshman Team.

Marot joined from West Virginia this offseason and contributed both as an outfielder and first baseman, ranking among league leaders in batting average, runs scored, RBIs, and on-base percentage. Edgmon started all 50 games at third base and finished in the top ten in several offensive categories both within conference play and overall school history. Martinez led league statistics in on-base percentage during conference play while maintaining strong numbers across multiple categories. Collins excelled as centerfielder with high rankings in stolen bases and offensive production.

Gallant maintained an undefeated record through his starts during regular season conference play. Pringle contributed defensively behind home plate while adding consistent offense; Wolfley emerged as a key outfielder after redshirting last spring.

The full list of award recipients included athletes from other schools such as High Point University’s Seojun Oh—named Player of the Year—and Joey Hammond who was recognized as Coach of the Year.
