Charleston Southern University’s women’s basketball team is set to play two away games this week as part of the Big South Conference schedule. The Buccaneers will face Gardner-Webb on February 11 at Paul Porter Arena, followed by a matchup against first-place High Point on February 14 at Qubein Center.

Charleston Southern enters the week with an overall record of 8-16 and a conference record of 6-5. The team recently secured an 88-62 home victory over Presbyterian, during which they shot nearly 56 percent from the field and maintained the lead for almost the entire game. This win marked their third in the last five conference games, placing them fourth in the league standings as they approach the final weeks of regular season play.

Junior guard Tyonna Bailey has been a key player for Charleston Southern, achieving her third double-double of the season against Presbyterian with 26 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. She also contributed four assists in that game. In conference play, Bailey leads all players in scoring with an average of 21.5 points per game and is second among guards in rebounding with eight rebounds per game. She ranks second in the league for six games with at least 20 points.

Other contributors include Caelan Ellis, who has scored in double figures in 20 games this season and leads Charleston Southern with an average of 2.7 three-pointers made per game. Nevaeh Jones continues to provide strength inside, recently recording a performance with 14 points and five blocks against Presbyterian.

Charleston Southern averages nearly nine three-pointers made per game, leading both the Big South Conference and ranking among the top teams nationally.

Gardner-Webb comes into Wednesday’s contest holding an identical overall record (8-16) but is one win behind Charleston Southern in conference play at 5-5. They are coming off a close win over Winthrop where they made thirteen three-pointers and forced twenty turnovers. Amina Gray leads Gardner-Webb with an average of twelve-and-a-half points per game.

High Point stands atop the conference at 21-3 overall and boasts a perfect home record this season. The Panthers lead the league defensively, allowing fewer than sixty points per game on average and maintaining a strong scoring margin over opponents. Macy Spencer leads High Point’s offense while shooting efficiently from both inside and beyond the arc.

Earlier this season, Gardner-Webb defeated Charleston Southern by seven points in their first meeting, while High Point claimed victory by twenty-one points when these teams last faced each other.
