Charleston Southern University’s women’s basketball team will play against Presbyterian College on Friday, January 23, at the Templeton Center in Clinton, South Carolina. The game was originally set for Saturday afternoon but was rescheduled to Friday evening due to expected bad weather.
Charleston Southern enters the matchup with a 5-14 overall record and a 3-3 mark in Big South Conference play. Their most recent game was a defensive contest against Gardner-Webb. Presbyterian holds a 3-16 overall record and is 1-5 in conference games. The Blue Hose recently secured their first Big South win of the season with a 50-46 victory over Gardner-Webb.

Junior guard Tyonna Bailey leads Charleston Southern in scoring with an average of 15.7 points per game and also leads the team in rebounds with 6.2 per game. She has scored in double figures twelve times this season and is third in the Big South for points per game. Caelan Ellis averages 13 points per game and leads the Buccaneers with 53 made three-pointers, ranking second in the conference for perimeter scoring. Asha Sra contributes an average of 9.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, including a career-high ten rebounds against Gardner-Webb.
Charleston Southern averages 58.9 points per game while shooting 37.2 percent from the field and making 30.8 percent of their three-point attempts. The team leads the Big South Conference in three-pointers made per game at an average of 8.7.
Presbyterian is led by Ja’Cia Cunningham, who averages 10.3 points per game, and Aminata Tal, who adds 8.6 points per game while shooting at a rate of 41 percent from the field. As a team, Presbyterian averages 53 points per game and shoots just over one-third from the field.
Charleston Southern aims for its third consecutive win over Presbyterian as both teams continue their conference schedules.
