Charleston Southern women’s tennis splits matches against North Florida and Florida A&M

Charleston Southern University’s women’s tennis team competed in two matches in Jacksonville, Florida, on February 13 and 14. The Buccaneers faced North Florida and Florida A&M, splitting the results over the weekend.

In their first match against North Florida, Charleston Southern lost 0-4. The team dropped the doubles point after defeats on courts two and three. In singles play, North Florida secured straight-set wins on courts four, five, and three to clinch the overall victory. Three other singles matches were left unfinished.

The Buccaneers rebounded in their next contest against Florida A&M, winning 4-1. They claimed the doubles point with victories from Marina Skegro and Carlota Farres (6-1), as well as Brenda Yoris and Camila Molina (6-3). In singles action, Yoris (6-1, 6-3), Molina (7-5, 6-4), and Carle Botha (6-3, 6-2) each earned straight-set wins to secure the team victory. Skegro and Farres were leading in their respective matches when play was stopped.

The full results for both matches are as follows:

Against North Florida:
Singles – Aryana Bartlett defeated Carlota Farres (6-1, 7-5); May Fadida defeated Amike Botha (6-1, 6-4); Gabby Goyins defeated Camila Molina (6-1, 6-2). Other matches were unfinished.
Doubles – Long/Goyins defeated Yoris/Molina (6-2); Fadida/Bartlett defeated C. Botha/A. Botha (6-3). One match was unfinished.

Against Florida A&M:
Singles – Brenda Yoris defeated Reagan Harris (6-1, 6-3); Camila Molina defeated Luiza Eidelvein (7-5, 6-4); Carle Botha defeated Alyynah Thomas (6-3, 6-2). Larissa Silva of FAMU defeated Amike Botha (6-2, 6-4). Two matches were unfinished.
Doubles – Skegro/Farres defeated Rodriguez/Silva (6-1); Yoris/Molina defeated Harris/Pierce (6-3). One match was unfinished.

Charleston Southern is scheduled to host three home matches over the next ten days: South Carolina State on February 21 at 11:00 a.m., Nebraska on February 22 at 1:00 p.m., and Coastal Carolina on February 24 at 1:00 p.m.
