The Charleston Southern women’s track and field team competed at the Orange & Purple Invite in Clemson, marking their second visit to the venue this season. The meet, initially planned for two days, was condensed into Friday due to expected winter weather.
Several athletes achieved personal bests during the event. In the 200-meter race, Maeva Tahou recorded a time of 24.68 seconds, making it the ninth-fastest in school history. Maya Clark finished close behind with a personal best of 24.71 seconds. Grenisha Thomas and Danea Niles also posted strong times in the same event.
In the 400 meters, Maya Clark placed eighth overall with a time of 55.43 seconds, which is now fourth on Charleston Southern’s all-time list for that distance. Caroline Aslerin ran a career-best 55.94 seconds to move up to ninth all-time at CSU, while Brenda du Toit finished in 56.84 seconds.
Lucy McNamara made her debut in the one-mile race with a time of 4:55.11, ranking as the second-best performance in program history for that distance. Freya Buglass completed her mile run in 5:01.10.
Charleston Southern also saw success in the 3,000 meters as Katrina Husby (10:05.91), Charlize Antia (10:10.74), Kallie Henderson (10:11.97), and Giada D’Agostino (10:12.67) all set personal records and now hold positions seven through ten on CSU’s all-time list for this event.
In the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries, three athletes advanced to semifinals: Maeva Tahou ran an 8.57 before improving to a personal best of 8.53 seconds—tied for third-fastest in school history; Chloe Maé Wilks clocked a season-best of 8.60; and Grenisha Thomas achieved a personal best of 8.66 seconds for eighth place historically at CSU.
Maeva Tahou also reached a career mark in long jump with a leap of 5.68 meters—seventh best at Charleston Southern—and Yassine Kamara led shot put efforts with a throw of 13.59 meters.
In weight throw competition, Zemaya Carson had Charleston Southern’s top mark at 17.85 meters while Lily Rowan achieved another personal record at 15.94 meters to move up one spot on CSU’s record books.
The Buccaneers’ day ended when their relay team did not finish after an exchange zone collision during the third leg of the race.
Charleston Southern will have another weekend off before traveling to Blacksburg, Virginia for the Doc Hale Invite hosted by Virginia Tech from February 6-7.
