Charleston Southern University’s women’s track and field team concluded its regular indoor season at the Tyron Mid-Winter Invitational on Saturday in Tyron, North Carolina. The meet featured several standout performances, including a school record in the 400 meters.

Maya Clark set a new school record in the 400m with a time of 54.41 seconds, winning the event. Her time also ties for the third-fastest mark in conference history. Caroline Aslerin finished second with a personal best of 54.75 seconds, now ranking third in program history and ninth all-time in league records. Barbara de Kock and Brenda du Toit took fourth and fifth place with times of 57.37 and 57.50 seconds.

In the 800m race, Lucy McNamara won with a personal best of 2:13.89, which is now fourth-best in school history. Freya Buglass finished second at 2:14.66, just short of her career best, while Sienna Rose placed ninth with a time of 2:20.94.

Grenisha Thomas secured first place in the 200m dash at 24.64 seconds; Clark matched that time for second place and achieved her personal best, ranking ninth fastest in school history for the event. Maeva Tahou ran 24.75 for third place and Aslerin followed closely at 24.85 for fourth.

The Buccaneers swept the top three spots in the women’s 5K race as Katrina Husby led with a time of 17:31.27—fourth-best ever at Charleston Southern—followed by Giada D’Agostino (17:53.38) at eighth all-time and Elizabeth Shaylor (17:57.43), just shy of her personal record.

In hurdles competition, Maeva Tahou posted a personal best of 8.40 seconds to win the event; this result is second-best all-time for Charleston Southern and eighth-best within Big South Conference history. Grenisha Thomas was close behind at 8.47 seconds—the third-best performance for CSU—and Chloe Mae Wilks, Brenda du Toit, and Katelyn Grate rounded out the top five.

Thomas also excelled in sprints by winning both prelims (7.62) and finals (7.60) of the women’s 60m dash; Danea Niles finished third in both rounds.

Charlize Antia nearly matched her personal record in the mile run with a time of 4:58.97; Husby completed it in seventh position at 5:13.07.

In field events, Tahou took second place in triple jump with an effort of 11.68 meters.

Yassine Kamara won shot put after throwing for a distance of 13.93 meters; Zemaya Carson was runner-up at 13.75 meters while Lily Rowan’s throw of 13.07 meters marked her personal best and tied her for tenth on CSU’s all-time list.
