The Charleston Southern Women’s Track & Field team recorded several top performances at the Duke Invitational, according to an April 11 announcement. The distance squad achieved three new top ten marks in school history across different events during the competition in Durham, North Carolina.
These results highlight the progress of the team and its athletes as they approach the end of their regular season. Setting new school records is significant for both individual competitors and the program overall.
In the women’s 1500-meter event, Charlize Antia posted a personal best time of 4:32.56, which now stands as the fifth-fastest mark in Charleston Southern history for that race. Teammates Brianna Adams and Sienna Rose also competed in this event, finishing with times of 4:54.26 and 4:55.24 respectively.
Freya Buglass led Charleston Southern in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:11.58, placing her twenty-ninth out of more than one hundred runners. Lucy McNamara achieved a career-best time of 2:14.54—now seventh fastest all-time for Charleston Southern—while Rose ran a personal best at 2:15.57 (ninth fastest), and Antia finished with a time of 2:16.32.
Sprinter Danea Niles recorded season-best performances in both short sprints, running a time of 12.07 seconds in the women’s 100-meter dash and clocking a season-best mark again with her finish at 24.85 seconds in the women’s 200 meters.
Looking ahead, Charleston Southern will compete next weekend at Georgia Tech Invite on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18—the penultimate regular season meet for their spring campaign.
