Charleston Southern’s women’s track and field team broke three school records during the final meet of their regular season at the Charlotte Invite, according to an April 25 announcement.

The team achieved new marks in the 4×400 meter relay, the 100 meter hurdles, and the long jump. These performances also placed athletes among the top rankings in conference history.

In the closing event of the meet, Maya Clark, Grenisha Thomas, Maeva Tahou, and Caroline Aslerin set a new school record in the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3:34.38. This performance is now recognized as the second-best in conference history. The “B” relay team finished with a time of 3:53.62 while another group ran a season-best of 45.75 seconds in the 4×100 meter relay, which is now eighth-fastest in program history.

Maeva Tahou won the 100 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 13.24 seconds—a new school record and third-fastest ever recorded by an athlete from Big South Conference schools. In field events, Tahou also broke another record by winning the long jump with a mark of 6.20 meters—making her both a school record holder and “the first-ever Buccaneer to go over six meters.” Her result ranks fourth all-time within league history.

Other notable performances included personal bests for Chloe Mae Wilks (13.80) and Katelyn Grate (14.23) in hurdles events; strong finishes for Clark (53.91) and Aslerin (54.67) in individual sprints; standout times from Freya Buglass (2:11.39), Lucy McNamara (2:12.69), Sienna Rose (2:14.45), Charlize Antia (4:31.56), Keerstin Augustin (17:07.42), Giada D’Agostino (17:44.49); plus career-best throws from Zemaya Carson, Avah Morrison, Lily Rowan; jumps by Grate; and javelin efforts led by Chloe Greene.

The Charleston Southern women’s track team will take two weekends off before preparing for their next major competition—the Big South Championships—scheduled to be held at High Point University from May 11 through May 13.
