The College of Charleston women’s basketball team will face William & Mary at TD Arena on Friday night in a Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) matchup. With a win, Charleston would secure at least a share of the CAA Regular Season Championship, marking the first conference title in the program’s Division I history.
Charleston enters the game with a 21-4 overall record and is 13-1 in CAA play. The team has reached 20 wins for the third straight season, which is a first for the program since joining Division I. Earlier this season, Charleston earned notable victories, including their first Power 4 win since 2009 with a victory over Northwestern and another over Florida State.
The Cougars are ranked eighth in the latest College Insider Mid-Major top-25 rankings and stand at No. 102 in the NET rankings and No. 116 in Torvik. The squad features two returning starters from last year’s WNIT Super 16 appearance, including reigning CAA Player of the Year Taryn Barbot.
Barbot has had an impactful season, averaging 19.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. She recently passed the milestone of 1,000 career points faster than any other player in Charleston basketball history and is currently eighth on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,536 points.
Other key contributors include Grace Ezebilo—who ranks among national leaders in several rebounding categories—and Taylor Barbot, one of only 22 players nationally to record a triple-double this season.
Head coach Robin Harmony is now in her seventh year leading Charleston and has accumulated more than 116 wins during her tenure, guiding the team to three consecutive seasons with at least 20 victories.
Friday’s contest also serves as Breast Cancer Awareness/Pink Game night; fans attending will receive free admission and can participate in giveaways while supplies last. Donations for Cougar Pantry—a student-led organization combating food insecurity—will be collected at the event.
William & Mary arrives with a conference record of 6-8 (13-12 overall) and sits sixth in league standings. The Tribe’s leading scorers are Cassidy Geddes (13.5 ppg) and Natalie Fox (10 ppg). Historically, Charleston trails William & Mary by two games but has won their last three meetings.
Fans are reminded that security procedures—including walk-through metal detectors—and clear bag policies remain enforced at TD Arena.
Charleston will next host Campbell on Sunday after facing William & Mary.
