The College of Charleston women’s basketball team secured a 66-43 victory over Stony Brook at TD Arena on Thursday night. With this win, the Cougars clinched the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Regular Season Title and earned the top seed for the upcoming CAA Tournament.
Charleston now holds a 23-5 overall record and is 15-2 in conference play. The team’s 15 conference wins set a new program record, surpassing previous marks achieved during the 2024-25 season and in 2008-09.
Head Coach Robin Harmony reached her 118th win at Charleston, tying Nancy Wilson for the most victories by any head coach in the school’s Division I era. “Head Coach Robin Harmony won her 118th game at CofC and is tied for the most wins by a Charleston head coach in the Division I era. Harmony is tied with Nancy Wilson who also won 118 games from 2003-2012,” according to school officials.
During Thursday’s game, junior Taryn Barbot led all scorers with 21 points, reaching at least 20 points for the fifteenth time this season. She also contributed five rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Junior Taylor Barbot added six points along with seven assists and four rebounds.
Senior Marissa Brown recorded eight points and seven rebounds. Junior Grace Ezebilo posted her eighth double-double of the year with twelve points and fourteen rebounds—her twenty-second double-digit rebounding performance this season. Redshirt senior Sophia Tougas contributed eight points and four rebounds.
Charleston dominated key statistical categories, including outrebounding Stony Brook by fifteen boards (47-32), scoring twenty-three second-chance points to Stony Brook’s five, forcing seventeen turnovers that led to sixteen Cougar points, and outscoring their opponent twenty-six to nine in the third quarter.
“Taryn Barbot scored her 1,602nd point as a Cougar and is now sixth on Charleston’s all-time scoring list,” according to team representatives.
The Cougars will travel to Greensboro for their final regular-season matchup against N.C. A&T on Saturday.
