The College of Charleston women’s track and field team saw its distance medley relay (DMR) squad secure first place at the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Indoor Championship, held Sunday in Boston. The DMR team—Abby Mogg, Emma Townsend, Kiley DeFusco, and Katie O’Toole—finished with a time of 11:43.29, earning both a gold medal and setting a new program record.

Overall, 23 athletes represented Charleston at the championships. The team placed ninth out of twelve teams and collected 29 points.

In other events, Elaine Zhai took second in the pole vault by clearing 3.95 meters (12-11½), marking the second-best result in school history for the event. Boston Stringer achieved a personal best by clearing 3.75 meters (12-3½) to finish seventh.

Senior Cayden Crismon competed in her final indoor race as a Cougar, finishing seventh in the 5000 meters with a personal record time of 17:17.42—third fastest all-time for the program.

Freshman Trinity Jones set a new program mark in the 400-meter dash last weekend at the Tryon Mid-Winter Invite and improved on that record at the championship meet with a time of 56.67 seconds.

Gabby Brailsford and Jackie Sides recorded the fourth- and fifth-fastest times in school history for the 200-meter dash with times of 25.50 and 25.63 seconds respectively; Brailsford also matched her personal best in the 60 meters at 7.84 seconds.

The team’s relay squads had notable performances as well. The 4×800 meter relay team finished fifth among nine teams with a time of 9:15.34, while the 4×400 meter relay clocked in at 4:00.44 for fourth place on Charleston’s all-time list.

Kinsley Allen contributed two points by placing sixth in high jump after clearing a height of 1.65 meters (5-5).
