The College of Charleston women’s golf team secured a top ten finish at the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational in Sarasota, Florida. The event featured challenging weather, with winds reaching up to 40 mph. All 15 participating teams finished over par due to the difficult conditions.

Charleston outperformed three teams ranked in the top 50 of the Clippd standings among a total field of nine. Head coach Jamie Futrell commented on the team’s effort during the tournament: “That was one of the windiest days I have been part of in all my years of coaching. We showed a great deal of heart today.”

Molly Hardwick led the Cougars with a tie for 12th place, highlighted by an even-par round and a bogey-free back nine on Tuesday. Emilie von Finckenstein also placed in the top 20, tying for 19th after making four birdies during her final round.

The team will compete next at home in the Daniel Island Invitational on March 2-3.
