The College of Charleston women’s tennis team was defeated 7-0 by #21 Clemson at the Duckworth Family Tennis Center on Saturday. This result brings Charleston’s season record to 0-3, while Clemson improves to 8-2.

Head coach Angelo Anastopoulo commented on the match, saying, “Clemson was the better team. We played well at times, but couldn’t put together a long enough stretch of consistent tennis to win more sets and matches. That will come with better coaching and more experience.”

Clemson gained an early advantage by winning doubles matches on courts two and three, taking a 1-0 lead into singles play. In singles competition, Clemson secured victories on courts five, four, and three to clinch the match. The Tigers then added wins in straight sets on courts six and two before closing out the sweep with a third-set tiebreak victory on court one.

The Cougars will return to action against Presbyterian on Wednesday, February 18, with first serve scheduled for 2 p.m.
