The Charleston women’s tennis team is set to travel to Louisiana for two matches this weekend. The team will face Nicholls State on Saturday at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex and the University of New Orleans on Sunday at the Privateer Tennis Center.

“We’re excited at the opportunity to get to play two undefeated teams on their courts,” head coach Angelo Anastopoulo said. “We are looking forward to the challenge and it will be a plus to get to stay in New Orleans for the weekend!”

This marks the first meeting between Charleston and Nicholls State. Nicholls State holds a 3-0 record this season, including a recent 7-0 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Last year, they finished with an overall record of 8-14 and were 1-8 in conference play.

Charleston has played New Orleans once before, holding a 1-0 advantage in their all-time series. The University of New Orleans enters Sunday’s match with a 5-0 record, having posted 7-0 victories against both Mississippi Gulf Coast CC and Coastal Alabama CC this season. Last season, New Orleans recorded a 5-14 overall mark and went 1-8 in conference matches.

Last week, Charleston secured a narrow 4-3 win over Presbyterian in Clinton, South Carolina.
