The College of Charleston women’s tennis team will compete in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia, starting Friday, April 17.

The tournament is significant for the Cougars as it offers a chance to secure an automatic berth to the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship. The team finished its regular season with a record of 15-7 overall and a 6-2 mark in conference play, earning them the No. 3 seed among six teams.

Head Coach Angelo Anastopoulo said, “The team is very excited to qualify for the CAA Championship. The regular season was very competitive and showed how much parody there is in this league. Our squad has shown much improvement over the season and I like where we are entering the championship. We’re looking forward to a fun weekend.”

Charleston’s first match will be against No. 6 Campbell on Friday evening at Mackesy Tennis Center on William & Mary’s campus, with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. The tournament field also includes top-seeded Elon, second-seeded William & Mary, fourth-seeded UNCW, and fifth-seeded Drexel.

If Charleston wins its opening match against Campbell, it will face No. 2 William & Mary in Saturday’s semifinal round. The championship match is set for Sunday at 2 p.m., with free admission offered throughout all three days of competition.
