Citadel men’s basketball prepares to face Mercer in Southern Conference matchup

The Citadel men’s basketball team will host Mercer on Saturday, February 14, at McAlister Field House in a Southern Conference matchup. The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. ET and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

The Bulldogs enter the contest with a record of 9–17 overall and 6–7 in conference play. In their most recent outing, The Citadel lost on the road to Western Carolina. Before that, they secured a 78–71 victory at Chattanooga, where four players scored in double figures and the team shot 50 percent from the field.

Braxton Williams leads The Citadel in scoring this season with an average of 13 points per game. Christian Moore contributes 11.2 points per game and has made 50 three-pointers, ranking third in the Southern Conference for three-point percentage among eligible players at 39.7 percent. Carter Kingsbury averages 9.3 points per game.

In the frontcourt, Sola Adebisi leads the team with an average of 6.1 rebounds per game and has recorded 25 blocked shots while shooting nearly 59 percent from the field. Eze Wali is the team’s leader in assists (63) and steals (23).

As a unit, The Citadel averages just under 70 points per game while shooting 42 percent from the floor and over 32 percent from beyond the arc.

Mercer comes into Saturday’s matchup with a record of 16–10 overall and an 8–5 mark in conference games. The Bears recently defeated Furman at home by a score of 69–64.

Through their first 26 games, Mercer averages 85 points per contest while allowing opponents to score just over 75 points per game. The Bears are shooting nearly 48 percent from the field and over 36 percent from three-point range while averaging more than sixteen assists each outing.

Armani Mighty leads Mercer with an average of almost fifteen points per game. Several other Bears also contribute double-digit scoring numbers, while as a team Mercer averages nine steals and more than three blocks per contest.
